A really great game that is "turn based". i come back every few hours to check on my progress. It has a very Bards Tale feel to it. unfortunately it's hard to get answers to some basic questions about gameplay -- I don't know who runs the reddit, but it's full of condescending and abusive admins... a real bad mark on an otherwise great game.Jun 01, 2024 03:33:17

A well devised example of the genre. Crafting formulas gain in complexity with the levels, demanding a clever management of your heroes and inventory. The rewards for tough tout craft items are monetarily exponential, translating to growth of you capacities, giving you plenty of incentive to go that extra mile. The combat, while automated, does require thought and tuning when you go after rare beasts and bosses. The game is fun but dragged down by constant backtracking for crafting materials. Instead of progressing in a linear path you have to run the same instances over and over again to get base mats. Kinda wish they would just drop from the higher level bosses too, this way it feels like I'm just running circles. Frustratingly there is a possibility to buy mats from vendors, but the amount of items offered and the long times between vendors offering items ruins this too.May 31, 2024 22:57:00

Great game, but ultimately I found the gameplay a bit repetitive—I'm just not a huge fan of phone games in general I think, I keep expecting them to have more of a plot, more varied activities, more NPC personality, more funny little Easter eggs, etc. I made it through several levels of this one though & it was very good for its genre. Absolutely wonderful game: charming, interesting, well drawn, pleasant music, balanced, varied, and a nice progress system that is rewarding. If the game included some story elements for the various challenges your heroes can face, this game would be top class, as it is I'd say Merchant is one of the best and honest games available on mobile devices. I've been playing on and off since 2016. The developer has done a great job of adding content and providing tweaks along the way. While purchasing all of the expansions are not required, and a bit high for mobile, the content is well worth it. Even if you don't decide to get the additional content, the base game alone is engaging, and entertaining. There's a solid mix of instant gratification, and parsing out breaks from the play.
